Reservation of berths/seats
and compartments
1. Berths/seats in all classes can be got reserved up to maximum 30 days
in advance of the date of commencement of journey. Before leaving the
counter please ensure that berth/seat no., train no., date, passenger’s
name is recorded on the ticket.
2. Sleeping accommodation: The Railway Administration endeavor as far as
possible to provide sleeping accommodation for long night journey of
air-conditioned sleeper and first sleeper class passengers between the
hours of 9pm to 6am but it does not guarantee to do so specially, when
traffic is heavy. It is to be distinctly understood that during the
day-time, viz., from 6am-9pm the passengers concerned must if required
make room for other passengers to use the compartment.
3. Issue of air-conditioned and first class tickets in advance between
any two stations on the Pakistan Railways from certain stations and
advance reservation of accommodation on such tickets. Air-conditioned
and first class passengers requiring reserved accommodation traveling
between any two stations on the P.R. are allowed a special facility of
purchasing their tickets up to a limit of 30 days in advance of the date
on which they intend to commence their journey form P.R., Headquarters
booking and reservation office, Lahore.
Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Multan, Karachi, Hyderabad, Quetta,
Sukkur, Jacobabad, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Rahim Yarkhan, Faisalabad, Khanpur,
Jhelum, Khairpur, Rohri, Mirpur Khas, Kohat, Bahawalpur, Muzaffarabad,
Sibi, Havelian, Attock City, Mari Indus, Kundian, Kharian, Sialkot,
Nowshera, Gujranwala, Raiwind stations reservation office of
accommodation on such tickets will also be arranged by these stations.
These tickets will be ordinary blank paper tickets showing stations from
and to between which these will be available in additions to other
particulars.
Note: i) Larkana station can also issue air-conditioned and
first(sleeper) tickets in advance to passengers requiring reserved
accommodation for traveling from Rohri to a) Lahore and stations en
route and b) Karachi and stations en route.
ii) The above stations are also authorized to accept and complete high
official requisition tendered for journey of high official between any
two stations on P.R. and to arrange reservation for such journey. In the
case of AC, sleeper first class accommodation these high officials
requisitions can be accepted at such stations up to a maximum of 30 days
in advance.
iii) Military concession vouchers, military warrants, concession orders
& P.T.Os for journey in air-conditioned and first class can also be
exchanged at the above stations up to a maximum of 30 days in advance.
4. A passenger who has got reserved a berth or seat, should report
sufficient in advance but not later than five minutes befor departure of
the train at the station from where as per reservation particulars
accommodation has been booked for him
If a passenger for whom a berth or seat has been reserved does not
arrive up to five minutes before the departure of train the
administration may allot the accommodation to the other passenger.
5. Reservation fee/surcharge ticket: The following reservation fee and
surcharge are recoverable for reservation of berths/seats:-

*Rs 60 during night journey from 9pm to 6am
Rs 10 during day journey from 6am to 9pm
Note: i) In case of first, economy and second class reservation fee for
a seat will not be recovered when a berth is reserved on payment of
surcharge.
ii) The reservation surcharge per berth is also recovered from military
personnel, if a berth is reserved.
iii) The reservation tickets are valid for the specified train and for
the particular day for which these are issued In the event of
reservation being required on days other than those originally arranged,
the original tickets will have to be returned and fresh tickets
purchased and reservation secured.
iv) The reservation surcharge of Rs 50 will be charged even if
accommodation is not provided in 1st sleeper class during 9pm to 6am
6. Refund on reservation tickets: Reservation fee is not refundable in
the event of passenger failing to avail themselves of seats or berths.
7. Reserved accommodation and supply of a particular type of carriage
“Not Guaranteed”:-
i) a. The Railway Administration will endeavor to provide rail
accommodation referred to in the foregoing rule but it does not
guarantee the same and will admit no claim for compensation for
inconvenience, loss or extra expenses due to such accommodation
(including carriage) not being provided or reserved carriage not being
attached to any particular train.
b) The supply of any particular type of carriage of the provision of
particular berth or seat is also not guaranteed.
2) Charges to be paid when an AC sleeper compartment or first class
compartment is required to be booked for exclusive use of a party. The
exclusive use of a compartment during daytime, viz., from 6am to 9pm
will be allowed on payment of the following special reservation fee for
the number of spare seats available in the compartment:-
Special reservation fee per passenger
i) Air-conditioned (Sleeper) compartment:-
For distance up to 800km 255 Rs
For distance exceeding 800km 275 Rs
ii) First class compartment:-
For distance up to 300km 75 Rs
For distance exceeding 300km but not exceeding 1,000km 105 Rs
For distance exceeding 1,000km 125 Rs
3) Application for reservation of compartment should be made to the
nearest station master in the same way as for reservation of berths and
seats.
4) All fully reserved compartments will bear distinctive labels to this
effect.
